雅各布斯音乐学院任命玛丽·马祖雷克为音乐制作系教师

印第安纳州布卢明顿——印第安纳大学雅各布斯音乐学院欣然宣布,任命玛丽·马祖雷克为音乐制作(音频工程方向)副教授,自 8 月 1 日起生效。

 

玛祖雷克目前是加拿大阿尔伯塔省莱斯布里奇大学数字音频艺术系的助理教授。她同时也是一位格莱美奖提名录音工程师、跨界艺术家、教育家,以及《 审美噪音:有意聆听的哲学》(劳特利奇出版社,2025年)一书的作者。她凭借专辑《液态忧郁:詹姆斯·斯蒂芬森的单簧管音乐》获得第61届格莱美奖 最佳古典工程专辑提名。她的工程作品经常在芝加哥WFMT电台和WFMT.com网站上播出,并通过欧洲广播联盟覆盖美国乃至全球的听众。

 

她是音频领域女性权益的积极倡导者,女性在录音工程领域占比不到5%。玛祖雷克曾在音频工程协会担任多个领导职务。此外,她于2026年因其在音频工程和倡导方面的贡献,被“我们正在改变现状”(We Are Moving the Needle)组织授予“共鸣器名人堂”荣誉。她是美国录音学院和拉丁学院的投票成员,并曾担任理事和工作组主席。

LOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana University Jacobs School of Music is pleased to announce the appointment of Mary Mazurek as associate professor of music in music production: audio engineering, effective Aug. 1.

 

Mazurek is currently assistant professor of digital audio arts at the University of Lethbridge, Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada. She is also a Grammy-nominated recording engineer, interdisciplinary artist, educator and author of Aesthetic Noise: The Philosophy of Intentional Listening (Routledge, 2025). She received a Grammy nomination for the 61st Annual Grammy Awards for Best Engineered Album, Classical for “Liquid Melancholy: Clarinet Music of James Stephenson.” Her engineering work is regularly broadcast on WFMT Radio in Chicago and WFMT.com, reaching audiences across the United States and internationally through the European Broadcasting Union.

 

She is a leading advocate for women in audio, who represent less than 5% of the recording engineering field. Mazurek has held several leadership positions in the Audio Engineering Society. Additionally, she was inducted into the Resonator Hall of Fame in 2026 for her audio engineering and advocacy work by the organization We Are Moving the Needle. She is a voting member of the Recording Academy and Latin Academy, and a past governor and task force chairperson. 

 

“We couldn’t be happier to welcome Mary Mazurek to the Jacobs School of Music,” said Abra Bush, David Henry Jacobs Bicentennial Dean. “Her wide variety of audio engineering experience, especially with classical music, coupled with developing and teaching an extensive array of audio engineering classes, position her as a leader in the field and a role model for aspiring students.”

 

Mazurek began her professional career at Universal Recording in Chicago in 1991 then transitioned to WFMT Radio in 1993. Her credits include the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Lyric Opera of Chicago and the New York Philharmonic, among many others. Her recordings appear on labels including Cedille, Naxos, Delmark and more.

 

In parallel with her audio career, Mazurek is an interdisciplinary artist whose sound- and image-based work has been exhibited in Chicago, New York, Mexico and Berlin. She holds a B.S. from DePaul University, an M.F.A. in Interdisciplinary Arts and Media from Columbia College Chicago and a Ph.D. in Philosophy, Aesthetics and Art Theory from the Institute for Doctoral Studies in the Visual Arts. In addition to music recording, her research includes the examination of noise, perception and intentional listening in contemporary aesthetic practice.
